A superb vintage Italian LC1 armchair by Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, Perriand, made in Italy and dating from around the 1960-70’s.
We believe this is a high quality production from Cassina, who acquired the rights to make this in the 1960’s. Originally created in the late 1920s by Le Corbusier, his cousin Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, the “LC” (as in Le Corbusier) chairs are icons in the history of design.
The ”LC1” tilt-back armchair is inspired by the colonial chair used by British officers in the 19th century. It features a tubular steel frame on which a supple cow hide upholstery is suspended. The armrests are made of leather straps.
The result of an in-depth study of body posture, the LC1 armchair is very comfortable: its minimalist lines, based on elementary geometry, paradoxically offer extreme comfort! In fact, ingenious details such as the reclining backrest and the metal springs under the seat and on the backrest contribute to its comfort.
The condition is excellent for its age, with just some minor wear here and there. There is a tiny bit of hair loss on the cow hide seat on one side, seen in the images.
