1970’s Vintage Italian Cesca Dining Chairs & Table

1970’s Vintage Italian Cesca Dining Chairs & Table

A very stylish and rare vintage dining table and chairs, made in Italy and dating from the 1970’s.

The chairs were originally designed by Marcel Breuer in the 1920’s, they are called the ‘Cesca’ chair. It is exceedingly rare to see them in this finish, with a deep red lacquered frame and brass plated base. The table came with them, it is also Italian and from the 1970’s. It matches the chairs perfectly, with a deep red lacquered top and thick tubular brass legs.

The overall condition is very good for its age. The red lacquer finish on the chairs is in amazing condition, with only a few minor marks here and there. The caned backs are all intact and are free from any damage, we have had the drop in seats re-upholstered in a cream cotton. The brass finish on the cantilever bases has some quite heavy patina and surface wear, one or two of the black plastic base caps are missing. There are two carver armchairs, and four side chairs without arms, the chairs are stamped beneath the seats, ‘made in Italy’.

The table is also in mostly superb condition, the red lacquer finish has only one or two very minor marks. The tubular brass legs also have some patina and surface wear, the legs can detach and be removed for ease of transport.
