1960’s Danish Rosewood Dining Table by Finn Juhl
An extremely rare and beautifully made Danish dining table in rosewood, designed by one of the great pioneers of Danish modern design, Finn Juhl. This was made in Denmark in the 1960’s by the master cabinet maker Niels Vodder. It was bought from new by the previous owner in Heal’s in 1965 for £1000, which was a huge amount of money for a piece of furniture in those days! It was kept covered over the years, so it’s still in amazing excellent condition with hardly any wear to be seen. The rosewood grain patterns are stunning throughout, even the underside of the table top and leaves are rosewood. This comes with two leaves so it can be extended to comfortably seat twelve, the legs unbolt and detach for ease of transport. Strangely there doesn’t seem to be a makers mark on it, but we have seen a couple examples of this exact model which are stamped Niels Vodder beneath. The quality of design and build is unmistakable, this appears to be a simplified variation of Finn Juhl’s Judas table.
