An iconic and very rare early model 401 armchair designed by Alvar Aalto. This version was made in Finland by Finmar, it dates from around the 1940’s.

It is of exceptional quality and is extremely comfortable. The seating area is very supportive and this rocks nicely on the bentwood cantilever frame.

It is in excellent condition for its age, the frame has a gorgeous colour and patina, with some light surface wear here and there. This has been recently upholstered in a charcoal grey fabric, which is in perfect condition.

The original Finmar label and Aalto stamp are seen beneath the frame.
