A stunning, rare and very early Danish vintage teak sofa bed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. This was made in Denmark by France and Daverkosen, it dates from the early 1950’s.
It is of superb quality and is extremely comfortable with the original thick, sprung cushions. The teak frame has beautifully sculpted armrests and woven rattan side panels. It sits on lovely tapered legs which can unbolt and detach for ease of transport. This version does not have a back rest as it is designed to go against a wall. The arms drop down on each end when the catch is released, and the back cushions go on either end to turn this into a guest bed.
We have had the frame stripped and re-polished to a very high standard, it is in superb condition throughout. The sprung cushions have been re-upholstered in a cream boucle fabric. The condition is superb throughout.
